Last week, Patti and I were in Florida visiting her mom and dad. Her mom had an 85th birthday and more than 40 showed up at the Olive Garden to celebrate the big event. We were a surprise along with our sister-in-law, Lisa, who also attended.
It took several days for us to celebrate her birthday. While we were there, Virginia mentioned that the phone we set up for her wasn’t working. So we went to the nearest AT&T store to get it fixed. Off we went.
AT&T told us that her phone was not eligible for an upgrade, but mine was.
So, here’s what we did. I gave up my phone to Virginia so she could have a phone. AT&T fixed her right up.
Then I upgraded my phone to the new iPhone. Now, I have always felt that irony was a great element of true humor.
The funny part? Stage 4 cancer boy had to sign a 2-year contract to upgrade the phone. That really made me laugh!

Recommendation: If you haven’t seen Silver Lining Playbook, do so. We just got back and I think it was the best movie of the year — it being February and all. Brad Cooper was just amazing!

Well, you obviously signed one two years ago!

I’m concerned with how cancer has clouded your vision. You saw Silver Lining Playbook and mentioned Bradley Cooper, but not Jennifer Lawrence! When Sue saw this and told me how much she liked it, I had to apply the “Bradley Cooper 50% Discount” to her opinion. The “George Clooney Discount” is 75%. She would watch either of them recite the phone book and give it a good review.

Yeah, Dave, I should have mentioned Jennifer Lawrence. At one point in the movie she gives Robert DeNiro a dressing down. Wow! Was she good at that!!! I half expected Joe Pesci to come out from behind a curtain and bop her one.
I know about Sue’s discounts. Patti has them, too. Usually for Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Tom Selleck and, as SHE says, “a number of them.” She says to tell Sue, she’ll go see any movie with her that has any of these guys in it.
As for me, I can’t wait to see A Good Day to Die Hard. Action!

I hope you shared your frame of reference with “the phone guys”. WIsh we could’ve been there with ya’ll. Feel like we missed lots 🙂 You know!! Watching golf with the boys, phone shopping, hanging out in the living room and all. . . anxious to see ya’ll again soon.

As a person who has devoted their adulthood to mental health, I, too, loved Silver Linings Playbook. I picked up a movie last month from the library (where I so love volunteering) called Lars and the Real Girl afraid to watch because my impression was that it was a “Hangover gross out” movie. What a delight to find out it is an amazing story of a young man’s mental illness and how his community embraces through his healing process. It will make you smile you guys, promise. As for two year contracts, I’d ask for four!! I am still here in your old hood if you ever want to meet for a meal or coffee.

BOTH movies were great! Die Hard is just what you expect it to be, with some nice “homages” to the original. Silver Linings was just awesome (even though Bradley Cooper is starting to irritate me more than a little).
Welcoem to the iPhone clan!

That’s the German spelling, BTW.
